Client: City of Pasco

Meier provided comprehensive architectural and engineering design services for the seasonal pool bubble at Pasco’s Memorial Aquatic Park, enabling year-round swimming access for the Tri-Cities community. This project transformed the outdoor facility into a climate-controlled environment during winter months, extending recreational opportunities that were previously limited to summer operation.

Project Scope:

The inflatable dome structure required integrated multi-discipline coordination to ensure safe, efficient operation.

  • Architectural Services: Life safety compliance and code analysis for the temporary structure, ensuring proper egress and occupant protection within the seasonal enclosure.
  • Civil Engineering: Site planning and stormwater drainage design to manage runoff and maintain proper site function throughout the installation period.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Natural gas line routing and connection design to support the dome’s climate control systems, enabling consistent temperature regulation during cold-weather months.
  • Electrical Engineering: Local utility coordination to establish new electrical service for the dome’s environmental systems, lighting, and operational equipment.

Design Approach:

Meier’s single-office multi-discipline team enabled seamless coordination between architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical requirements. This integration was critical for a project where life safety systems, utility infrastructure, and structural considerations must function as an integrated whole. The collaborative approach ensured the seasonal installation met all regulatory requirements while maintaining the aquatic facility’s operational continuity.

The inflatable dome installation represents the City of Pasco’s commitment to year-round recreation, providing consistent swimming access for families, competitive swimmers, and community programs regardless of weather conditions.
